Expansion of CTT Pernis Rotterdam
Redevelopment of land
CTT Pernis Rotterdam is a household name when it comes to effective and efficient handling of containers and services. The terminal wanted redevelopment of its site so that more trains could be handled efficiently. We rose to this challenge and our shared vision with CTT created a CTT and Dura Vermeer construction team. The construction team agreement translated CTT's customer requirements into a new design for the rail terminal. The existing tracks were replaced and the rail terminal expanded from three to five tracks. A total of about 2,500 meters of tracks were laid as well as a crane track of nearly 400 meters. CTT had a clear idea of the desired results. This meant that the construction team came into its own.

An ongoing business
The environment
Ongoing business
In large industrial projects, such as the CCT redevelopment, it is important to have ongoing operations. The challenge of having to construct while daily operations go on, requires adaptability, flexibility and good communication. Here, safety is priority number one. Close cooperation, weekly contacts and high client commitment resulted in not one CTT train being cancelled and the project being completed on schedule. 'Every day at 1:45 p.m. a train comes from Poland and every day the work site was clean and vacant so that the train could pass safely,' according to the client.
Sustainable infrastructure
The environment is a major issue in infrastructure construction. Within this project, as much as possible was accomplished through recycling and reuse of rails, ballast and sleepers. In doing so, we checked the products critically while we focussed on safety and quality aspects.
